Facebook Tips For The Facebook Impaired

>> Friday, March 12

I cannot understand Facebook. I have stayed away from it for a long time because I felt so inadequate in understanding it. Okay, supposedly, its membership grown a gazillion per cent in the last year, mostly 40-50 year old's BUT I couldn't make heads or tails of it for the life of me. Well, 24 hours ago I deleted my old fan page and started a new one. The old one was just a mess. Thankfully, my fan base has grown from 0 to 22 in about 24 hours. Thank you, thank you!
I would like to jot down some tips I found out the hard way about Facebook.
If you already know these tips, good for you. Email me so you can teach me Facebook!

1. When you become a fan, you fan as a person/individual and not as your fan page/business page.
2. To get to your fan page (and there must be an easier way to do this)
Go to your home page.
Scroll down to the bottom, click on advertising.
Click on pages (with the flag beside it).
Click on manage your existing pages (below the green box that says create a page).
Click on view page under your page name.

Shortcut: Bookmark you fan page on your browser.

3. To find out who you have fanned (not who your fans are), go to your Personal page, click on your info tab. Scroll down to pages. These are all the pages you have fanned.

4. To find your fans. Go to your fan page via the convoluted way. Or the shortcut way. Your fans will be on a box on the left hand side.

5. After 25 fans, you can change your user name and make it shorter.

As I find out more about FB, I will add more tips to this post.
