The Joke's On Mom

>> Friday, January 21

I love using fruit as decoration. When we lived in California, I would
buy pomegranates in season, put them in a bowl and let them age gracefully.
They would dry up and wrinkle, fade into a dusty rose color and last
for years. I would do that with lemons too!
When I moved to Florida, I attempted to duplicate the process.
I bought pomegranates (at $1 each!!!), put them in a bowl, only
to see them rot and mold in a week! I got my introduction to
Florida humidity. When I saw these ceramic lemons at Pier One a few
years ago, I snatched them up knowing this was the closest I would
get to using fruit as decoration. The lemons sit in a vintage bowl
on a chair by the front door. As you can see, I am not the only one
who appreciates these lemons. Apparently, they can "talk."
One lemon says "LOL," and the other one plaintively asks "SUP."
